Ythan Cycle Club - Club Runs

One of the mainstays of our organised cycling events is the traditional Sunday morning club run. This is a fun enjoyable cycle ride through some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK , ranging from spectacular views of the North Sea coastline, ancient castles, the foothills of the highlands and rarely visited Buchan villages.

Every Sunday, (barring extreme weather) we meet at the visitors car park to the front of the Community Centre at the new Ellon Community Campus.

During British Summer Time we start at 09.00hrs and during GMT (Winter time) we start at 10.00hrs. We aim to be back at the car park between 1200hrs and 1300hrs.

We occasionally have longer rides and the start times and location for these will be posted on the YCC forum in advance of the ride.

We also have mountain bike runs and the details of these are posted on the YCC forum in advance.

We usually decide upon where to go at the time of departure, depending upon the prevailing winds, the strength of the riders present and the whim of the organiser. See the Discussion Forum and the Club Calendar for more details.

Norman Fraser and Jeannette McBoyle have offered to run Sunday morning “social” rides.

They will endeavour to lead these runs most Sundays. These are at a slightly slower pace that the existing “normal” run. The runs start at the Ellon swimming pool at the same time as the other runs. So you can choose which run to go on that morning. Look out for run details on the Club run area on the forum.

Thanks to Norman and Jeannette for organising this as it was a missing link in the club’s activities.
